The difference is in the insulation application. A warm roof system the insulation sits above the roof, a cold system the insulations sits below it. There’s considerations in terms of roof height and whether you want or need to invest in insulation (for example an external garage wouldn’t require it) when you make a decision on which route to go down.

Our experience has led us to the tried and tested torch on two/three-layer felt system. There’s other products and materials out in the market but that’s the system we work with day in day out and consider the best for the job.

As the industry has developed there are now a massive range to choose from including triple glazed, tinted, framed, electric opening & more. Much of it is budget dependent and at quoting stage we can advise and guide on what works best for your roof type.

Insulation is one of those materials where the raw material cost has risen significantly in recent years, however the long-term benefits still remain and where budget allows, we would always encourage a warm roof system over a cold roof system on a flat roof for example, where you’re using as a living space.
